Purpose
Heal the Bay's website is a free public educational service for all of California's beach-goers and ocean-users. The content provided on this site is intended to educate about coastal pollution, its causes, its solutions, and to provide the means for the site visitor to participate in Heal the Bay's programs and take action on critical water quality issues. As such, this website's overall purpose is to assist in reaching the goal of making Santa Monica Bay and Southern California coastal waters safe for people and marine life.

Site Organization and Navigation
Heal the Bay's website is organized to provide a continuum of information about Santa Monica Bay and coastal pollution...from problems, to solutions, to inspiration. These main site sections are contained within the large colored buttons at the top of each page (global navigation area).

The top black navigation bar, also a part of the global navigation area, provides access to supplementary site sections for learning about Heal the Bay, joining, donating, shopping online, getting event details, viewing press related materials, and learning about this site.

Once a section is chosen from the global navigation area, a local navigation menu (if needed) displays pages contained in your selected section. Your location within the site is always discernable as it is indicated in both the global navigation (site section) and local navigation (page within that section). You can also immediately go to any other section in the site using the global navigation.

If all else fails, please make use of the Search function which will help you find what you are looking for on this site.

Content is presented primarily through the main text area, with additional information and focus provided in the sidebars on the right side of the page.
