Join the Super Trash Bowl Cleanup Face-off at Santa Monica Beach

Calling all Super Bowl fans to join Super Trash Bowl Cleanup Face-off at Santa Monica Pier on February 11, 2023, 12 PM – 3 PM.
Stop by Heal the Bay Aquarium on Saturday February 11, 2023, to grab a bucket, and participate in a self-guided cleanup of Santa Monica Beach to support some of your favorite Heal the Bay fishy friends. Come join us Saturday from 12 PM- 3 PM to support the spectacular Giant Spotted Sea Bass or the mighty Moray Eels in a first-down “fin-off” to see who will be the weekend-winner of our inaugural Super Trash Bowl Cleanup Face-Off. Lead your own team in a self-guided cleanup of Santa Monica Beach and at the end of the day, we’ll tally the total pounds collected by each fandom to see which team will win our first Heal the Bay Aquarium Super Trash Bowl!!
Show some “shoal” pride — and some love for the bay — by competing to see whether Team Stereolepis Gigas or Team Gymnothorax mordax can collect the most debris along the Santa Monica shoreline. Winners get bragging rights, but all participants will make a big waves for the environment by helping to keep our coastline clean and our ocean trash-free.
After the recent storms, there’s enough trash floating in L.A.’s stormdrain system to fill the State Farm Stadium twice. Pitch in to remove discarded plastic straws, cigarette butts, bottle tops before they get to the ocean, and the marine creature that call it home. No experience or equipment necessary. Bring the whole family to the surf and do a bit of good by tackling ocean pollution before Sunday’s Big Game. Who will be crowned King of the Aquarium on Super Bowl weekend?! Only you can decide!
The event kicks off at 12:00 PM at Heal the Bay Aquarium, located at the base of theSanta Monica Pier below the Carousel. We’ll bring the buckets, you bring the team spirit!
