Heal the Bay Events
MPA Watch Community Science Training
November 16 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Do you like science AND long walks on the beach?
Join Heal the Bay’s community science program, MPA Watch! Volunteers will be trained on how to collect data while walking along the most beautiful beaches of Malibu and Palos Verdes.
Monitoring done by MPA Watchers helps encourage enforcement and regulation around marine protected areas (MPAs), also known as “underwater Yosemites.”
Become a volunteer by attending the two-part training program, which includes one classroom training and one field training session. All training materials will be provided.
Parking: Metered street parking is available.
**PLEASE NOTE: Attendance to both sessions is required to become an MPA Watch certified volunteer, as well as previous attendance at an initial Heal the Bay Volunteer Orientation. The orientation happens every second Monday of the month.
