Volunteers will be trained on how to collect data while walking along the most beautiful beaches of Malibu and Palos Verdes. \nMonitoring done by MPA Watchers helps encourage enforcement and regulation around marine protected areas (MPAs)\, also known as “underwater Yosemites.” \nBecome a volunteer by attending the two-part training program\, which includes one virtual classroom training and one field training session. All training materials will be provided. \nPart 1: Classroom Training (Virtual)\nWednesday\, November 19\, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM \n\nPlease watch the prerequisite videos and quizzes:\n\n Heal the Bay MPA Watch Classroom Training Video (Heal the Bay MPA Basic Info Quiz)\n MPA Watch Virtual Field Training Video (Field Training Video Quiz)\n\n\nThe Zoom link will be shared after you register\nYou must have previously attended a Heal the Bay Volunteer Orientation\n\nPart 2: Field Training (In-Person)\nSaturday\, November 22\, 2 PM – 4 PM \n\nClassroom training must be completed\nField training location will be disclosed at the virtual classroom training\n\nTo become an MPA Watch certified volunteer\, you must attend both sessions and Heal the Bay’s New Volunteer Orientation.
