Heal the Bay Science, Outreach, & Policy

Max Bracey

Senior Watershed Specialist

Max has been a long-time admirer of Heal The Bay. Growing up in Santa Monica, his first visit to the Aquarium led him down a path of deep affinity for the ocean.

After graduating from Santa Monica High, Max attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Marketing. After beginning his career in the entertainment industry, he decided to take a detour from the corporate world and travel as a scuba instructor between 2016-2018. It during this trip that Max had an environmental awakening to the many ways human activity negatively affects the natural world. He returned to California determined to devote his career to work that is beneficial to people and planet.

While working as the Head of Marketing and Communications for a recycling company, Max started the 501(c)(3) non-profit, DiverSeaFy, in 2020. DiverSeaFy provides scuba and ocean conservation certifications for high school students from underrepresented communities around LA County.

Max is happy to be serving as the Senior Watershed Specialist to help Heal The Bay and the Safe Clean Water Program effectively engage communities in support of projects that improve water management and climate change resiliency in the Central Santa Monica Bay Watershed.
