Join Community Science Excursions

Prompted by rising temperatures, mass sea star wasting events have wreaked havoc on populations of these essential predators along the entire west coast of North America. Urchin barrens have overtaken many once star-filled habitats amidst the ecological disruption, but there’s hope! This ochre sea star along with dozens more were recently spotted by Heal the Bay community scientists during a excursion to help researchers better understand the biodiversity of Malibu’s tidepools.
