Heal the Bay is teaming up with the California Academy of Sciences for the bi-annual Solstice Sea Star Search to spotlight the critically endangered Sunflower star. These keystone predators are crucial for healthy kelp forests but are severely affected by sea star wasting syndrome.

By participating in our bioblitz, your tide pool observations will contribute to a global database supporting marine scientists in their efforts to study and restore sea star populations. More observations increase the chance of spotting the illusive Sunflower star!
