Calling all water lovers who also love public speaking! Join Heal the Bay in our upcoming Speakers Bureau March 2024 training, where you will learn how to give talks on topics such as ocean pollution and the storm drain system to residents of Los Angeles County.

Become a Heal the Bay Speakers Bureau Volunteer!

Speakers Bureau is one of Heal the Bay’s community outreach programs that take volunteers throughout Los Angeles County to different schools and businesses to give engaging and educational lectures. We will be proudly hosting our training in-person on Saturdays in March. This includes 3 in-person educational training sessions, as well as a session on the sand at our monthly Nothin’ But Sand cleanup.

• March 16, 2024: 8:30am-10:30am @ Nothin’ But Sand Beach Cleanup – Toes Beach
• March 23, 2024: 10am-2:30pm @ Madrona Marsh Nature Center and Preserve – 3201 Plaza del Amo, Torrance, CA 90503
• March 30, 2024: 10am-2:30pm @ Mercado La Paloma – 3655 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90007

Speakers Bureau is an educational program that focuses on providing environmental lectures to schools and businesses in Los Angeles County. We offer 5 different lecture topics, which we modify to fit any age group, from Pre-K to adults. We aim to reach as many students and community members as we can, as education and awareness are our strongest tools in helping our environment get the help it needs.

This FREE training is a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining experience in environmental education, science, policy, community outreach, and public speaking. Responsibilities after completing Speakers Bureau training include preparing for your chosen talk the day of, making sure to arrive on time to the destination (not necessary if it is a virtual presentation), and coordinating with the client for any last-minute changes.

All sessions are mandatory to complete the Speakers Bureau training. Trainees are expected to attend all 4 training sessions to become full-fledged members of the Speakers Bureau team. Please let Kayleigh Wade (kwade@healthebay.org) know if you are experiencing time constraints.
